Gemist: National Guard victims were sworn in day before they were shot, Pirro says

The two National Guard members who were shot yesterday in Washington, DC, had been on orders in the city since August, according to a statement from the West Virginia National Guard. DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro had earlier said the two service members, 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom and 24-year-old Andrew Wolfe, were “sworn in” just 24 hours before they were shot, but she didn’t immediately clarify what she meant by that. A spokesperson for the DC Joint Task Force later explained that the two members were deputized in August by the US Marshals Service when their mission began in the capital and were “re-deputized” the day before the shooting to continue the mission. This has been updated with details from the National Guard on the timing of the victims’ deployment to Washington, DC.
